I Had a Bad Day

31 03 2009

Yes, its a bad day right from the start.. Waking up early coz of daylight saving. Not in time to get any breakfast.

Bad cramp,  lousy branding work, plus the unexpected leak. Bad lunch. Bad bus journey home. Same old dinner. Boring TV shows.

And the unreasonable customer. Some people are just weird. They place order, we issue invoice, they make payment, we deliver the goods. And suddenly, they say that we overcharge them? We are not charity, we dun sell things at low price and give you multiple promos at the same time.

I endure… I will never bad-mouth my customers. I always try my best.

All i can say is.. some people are just WEIRD.

ediats.

Glad that my holiday is just 2 days away! Yippie. Shopping will be able to make all anger vanish. Can’t wait to finish work tml so that i can pack my bags. Can’t wait to get on the airplane :)

101 Reasons Why I Need A New Phone

14 03 2009

Yippie, finally after so long, i bought a new phone. I’ve been searching all these months for the perfect phone.

My white N73 was failing me, it has been 2 years plus and i endured. Prompting me “Memory Full” error all the time when i’m sure there’s still pretty much space available. Prompting me to delete my files else i wont be able to send out any text messages.

The phone was laggy, switching to camera mode was slow, and i wasnt in time to capture all the hilarious moments. I got missed calls from people but the phone doesnt display any traces of them. I knew it because i was just right beside the phone when those calls rang. Busy with my stuff so couldnt pick up, when i wanted to check who was it that called, to my surprise, it wasnt reflected on my phone! This has happened for quite a few times.

The phone switches off by itself. Yes, that’s the ultimate. Not because the battery is flat, just because it wanted to, it declares day off. And not to mention  the frequent hanging, yes, it goes into freeze mode just because its tired.

Many times when i was halfway through a phone conversation, the calls got cut off. Hey, its not me! I didnt hang up the call, its not the other party’s fault too, so… its just my phone, wanting to take a break.

Another bothersome thing was that i had to set my morning alarm every night, how i wish the N73 has the alarm feature that will allow me to choose multiple days in a week for ringing at a particular time. If i forget to set the alarm the night before, i will be late for work the next day!

The battery was draining pretty fast, as time goes by, it needs charging almost everyday. That’s really annoying, sucking up on the electical bills. There’s this time the phone was getting really hot, when it was in my bag. Heating up by itself, i might just be able to fry an egg on it. Remember Nokia started recalling batteries for certain models, well mine wasnt in the list. But its really worrying my phone becomes a heater out of no reason. Luckily it only happened for a day. During the recent Chinese New Year, 2 days before my birthday, my phone suddenly turned off by itself. I thought it was just another case of declaring off. So i attempt to switch it on again. Nope, it doesnt wake up. So i took out the battery and put it back in. I couldnt close the cover! I didnt know the battery could expand so much that it couldnt fit back into the phone anymore! The battery is gone. Amen.

Guess what, the following Monday when i went to work, this is what i saw on the newspaper.

“HE had just finished charging his handphone minutes ago.
Not long after placing it inside his left chest pocket, the handphone exploded.
The explosion ruptured a main artery in his neck so badly that the man died on the spot later, reported Guangzhou Daily News.
The incident happened in a computer shop in the Yuexiu district of Guangzhou province, China, at 7.30pm on Friday.
Guangzhou Daily News reported that the man, who is in his 20s, was an employee of the shop.
A woman who works in a convenience shop next door said she rushed out of her shop after the explosion and saw the man lying on the ground in a pool of blood.
His colleagues rushed to him but he was already in a critical state.
The man had just changed his handphone battery, said his colleague.
The models of the phone and battery are not known.
Dr Hu Yongyi, head of the Accident and Emergency department in Hong Kong’s Union Hospital, told Apple Daily it was possible that the main artery transporting blood to the brain was hurt by a broken fragment from the damaged handphone.
If that happens, the victim could die within 5 minutes.
It was also possible that the shock from the explosion caused the heart to stop beating, added Dr Hu.”

Oh man… That chap is really unlucky. I had to be thankful that my battery only expanded, not exploded.

Ok.. so much so about my old phone.

Back to my phone searching journey, i knew that there wouldnt be a perfect phone unless you are willing to pay a sky high price for one. If there’s a perfect phone with a affordable price tag, everyone will be changing phone less often and the manufacturers definitely wouldnt want that to happen.

After much consideration, I was comtemplating to buy Nokia E71 in white. Looks sleek and stylish. Its a decent phone with all the features that the current market offers. It has a decent price tag. Pretty cheap i must say with the functionalities that comes with the device. The only thing that i wasnt too happy about was that it looked too executive. Being executive wasnt exactly the image i want to portray. “Yo, I’m supposed to be hip and cool.” Haha.

I was totally blown away by this particular Samsung phone when i went down to the Samsung  showcase store in Vivo. Wow man… its great.

Recognised this two thingy from any tv commercial? No? How can that be. It was a really fun and hip commercial!

pixon

The Samsung Pixon. It took me like 10 days to decide that i wanted to get this phone. No WiFi, yeah i know. It was bothering me for awhile. Come to think of it, i wouldnt be using a phone browser to surf the net, it will just be too time taxing for me, i would be able to do much stuff on it, just like the psp, how many times have i used it to hook up on the net? Erm.. Twice. So yeah, no WiFi, not a problem. 8 megapixel, ooh.. thats the main score point. I like the outlook of the phone, sleek and neat. I got black, pink is way too girly for me. The phone definitely looks much cooler than what it looks like in the adverts.  The widgets are so handy, i like the ability to drag and drop onto the desktops. Simple yet convenient. I guess its more of the user experience that win me over, compared to Nokia. From what i see over these 2 years, Samsung has really improved, alot. From the crappy interfaces back then, the complicated steps in going through the menu, its just so much easier now, not to mention the fun and cool factor. SE seems to be stagnant on their recent phones. It just didnt appeal to me anymore. N*kia, not much progress, their first attempt on the touch screen phone is a flop to me. It is really just a touch screen music phone with free music download. Nothing much else to exclaim on. LG has cookie, the touch screen ability outshines N*okia’s. HTC is great too, but too business-like for me.

Anyway, the best part about my Pixon is the whole package. It just comes with everything i need in the box.

1. The separable earpiece + mouthpiece, i can listen to radio on the bus with my own ear phones and making phone calls on the move.

2. Screen protecters + cleaning cloth, very minor stuff, but very useful too.

3. Leather cover, important to me, i wouldnt want to scratch my phone especially when i put phone and keys in the same bag compartment.

4. Triforce, great idea, its a wrist strap that comes with a mini stylus in triangular shape. Particularly useful when i want to do precision tapping for small icons on the screen. And i cant live without a strap, half of the time spent in my life is worrying about phone slipping off my hand, so yes, please give me the strap.

5. The chargers + all the necessary cables and adapters, well i only use the charger, no need for other cables as there’s Bluetooth.

6. Bluetooth earpiece, Starhub throws this in free. Someday, yes someday i might find the chance to use it.

Oh yah, part of the phone was sponsored as my birthday present. Yippie :)

One thing i have not figured out is how to go into our functions like checking SMS during a call. I’ve been using the phone for like 3 weeks, the phone doesnt alert me on incoming SMS when i’m hooked up on radio. Other than that, i have no complaints for the phone yet.

Bio-essence 24K Bio-Gold Face Series Exclusive Premiere

1 03 2009

The first beauty workshop that i have ever attended. I signed up through CozyCot and registration fee for this event was $10.

I told myself not to be late so i woke up early and gave myself ample time to makeup and get ready.

Reached there exactly on time and most of the ladies are already seated. Saw an empty seat near the entrance so i quickly went over to sit down. The refreshments was at a corner, so i went over to quickly dashed for the food. My stomach was growling. The food was ok, still recovering from my sore throat so didnt really fancy all the fried stuff. The presentation started shortly while i was still enjoying my food. Luckily i’m not the only that was still eating while she was introducing all the newly launched Bio-essence products.

Frankly speaking, i didnt know that it was a workshop. We were asked to tried on the products following the demostration step. Arh.. if i have know, i wouldnt have put on any makeup at all. Actually, i wasnt really impressed with their products, until finally the 24k Bio-Gold series products showed up. The gold series are nicely packaged and they look expensive in those classy bottles. Wah…. there are gold flakes in the bottle. We were suppose to try out right, yes, so i took a whole dab and massage it through my face and neck. The gold flakes are on my face now. Wahaha… only rich tai tai’s do that. I was kiasu enough and i scoop another lump out and apply on both my elbows.

The advisors there are really friendly people. And very efficient too. During the try on session, they were changing the bowls of water that we use to wash off our make up for every table once the water becomes dirty. They would also approach us to teach us the correct steps and procedures.

I thought there would be Q&A sessions where they would be giving freebies away, but to my dissapointment, there wasnt any :(

At the end of the try-on session, its time to spend money! The items were like 20 to 40 percent cheaper than the usual price so it was really worth buying.

I bought the Radiant Youth Essence Pone Pollen which the SA recommends me for pores refining. I tried it on my hand and it feels super oily initially. But just after a few seconds, the oiliness is gone and my hand felt super smooth. I was impressed and grabbed a bottle. The next item that i got myself was the 24K Bio Gold Eye Contour Lifting Serum. One of the reasons why i got this is it claims that it can lift droopy eye lids, which means it can make my eye look bigger! Wah.. hopes that it really worked. For GWP, i got a big cosmetic pouch in gold color, a pair of Sparkling Lift Eye mask and a pair of Bio-Energy Eye Bag Vanishing mask.

All these for the price of $63 including the registration fee. The door gift received was a full size Marvel Gel and Deep White Lotion. I was the first few to leave as i didnt want to stay longer and end up spending more money.

I enjoyed the event and thanks to Cozy Cot for organising :)
